I’ve never fit in a “typical mold,”
but that’s what drives my success.
As a Webster Groves City Council Member
I apply design thinking which is a powerful process of seeking solutions that begins with defining the problem, asking questions, reviewing the foremost solution and thoroughly studying each alternative. When design thinking is applied during collaborative conversation and project management, the success rate for consensus and innovation improves substantially.
I currently serve as Council Liaison on the Plan Commission and the Green Space Advisory Commission. During Commission meetings and Council work sessions, I strive to clearly and concisely update our volunteer Commission Members, City Council and the residents of our community.
As a Business Owner
More than 23 years ago, I chose to establish my own design firm rather than work for an agency. I continue to work with my clients to develop creative and resourceful solutions with an eye toward building consensus and delivering tangible results. As a designer, it is essential I stay ahead of trends, while respecting the boundaries and profile of my clients.
As an Active Volunteer
Throughout my career, I’ve served on boards and committees and also donated my professional services to causes I am passionate about. Initially, I focused on activities related to professional design organizations. I was the regional chair for the Society for Environmental Graphic Design, and I have served on the board of the St. Louis chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts. This fall I returned as a visiting lecturer and professor at Washington University in St. Louis.
I also supported our local parish and schools my children attended. Upon their graduation from high school, I broadened the scope to embrace the community where I live — Webster Groves. Today I am a member of the Webster Groves/Shrewsbury/Rock Hill Chamber of Commerce, the North Webster Neighborhood Coalition, the Alliance for Interracial Dignity, and I am a founding member of Webster Groves Creatives — an informal yet strong group of professionals who work in creative industries.
As a Parent
I am the single mother of two grown children who are both building their careers. My son Will is a software engineer working in Washington DC. My daughter Maggie lives abroad having just completed a Masters Degree in Sustainable Resource Management, and she is launching her career at an engineering firm in Munich, Germany.
Education & Personal Background
I grew up in Glendale and Webster Groves, lived in the City of St. Louis as a teenager and later with my late husband and our young children. Many years ago, I made the decision to relocate to Webster Groves.
I attended North Glendale School and Visitation Academy before graduating from John Burroughs School. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
