For our Future

What’s next for Webster Groves? The COVID pandemic has changed forever where we are going. Change is happening all throughout our community. Together, we will identify new opportunities for growth for the City, businesses, and our residents.

Balance the Budget and Raise Revenue

  • Live efficiently within our financial means while we develop greater collaboration between our business districts and thereby creating greater critical mass for the Webster Groves business community
  • Seek new commercial development within our business districts that align with our current dimensional requirements, density and green space requirements
  • Create a business development strategic plan that can provide a map for future development over the next 10-15 years

Green Space Stewards and Green Infrastructure

  • Propose to comprehensively study the various systems and structures Webster Groves uses on a daily basis – such as buildings, utilities and technology (green infrastructure) to better manage stormwater with the natural environment in mind
  • Identify potential legislation that incentivizes and advances layering green infrastructure over our existing built environment, also known as “grey infrastructure,” thereby improving our watershed through new stormwater management
  • Identify potential legislation that incentivizes green stewardship in our commercial districts
  • Heighten awareness of and study the short and long term strategies outlined in “Forever Webster Groves” — the proposed 2022 Sustainability Plan formulated by the city’s Sustainability Commission.

Business Development

  • Increase planning and coordination between all businesses that are located in Webster Groves
  • Unify communications/efforts between business taxing districts and raising levels of engagement with the Marshall Ave. Historic District, Old Webster North, Yorkshire, and home-based businesses
  • Continue to support efforts of the Webster Groves/Shrewsbury/Rock Hill Chamber of Commerce.
  • Vet, spearhead and support new ideas and efforts raised by our Business Development Commission and all business owners as evidenced from the 2018 Business Development Strategic Plan and the Business Roundtable recently held in November of 2021

Diversity

  • Amplify diversity of family lifestyles, ages, economic backgrounds, religions, gender, skills and education levels within Webster Groves by specifically supporting the varied ways our residents want to live, learn, play, work, and grow
  • Support the findings of our Equity Audit and to ensure staff in all departments and their leaders are covered with equitable policies now and into the future
  • Study and follow recommendations offered within the Compensation and Classification Study in order to become and remain competitive as a valued small government employer within the St. Louis region
  • Measure our initiatives against values stated in our adopted DEI statement
  • Endeavor to stretch myself to learn about “community” with our diverse and multicultural neighbors
